First RISKY output: Open access global Roadkill data locations

Global Roadkill Data Initiative Provides Access to the Largest Wildlife Mortality Database for Conservation

More than 400 scientists worldwide have compiled the largest dataset on roadkill for terrestrial vertebrates, comprising over 200,000 records covering 2,283 species from 54 countries. The dataset highlights 126 threatened species, including the giant anteater, common fire salamander, and European rabbit, all facing heightened risk from vehicle collisions.

This open-access dataset provides detailed roadkill locations from global surveys, supporting scientific research, informing policy, and guiding efforts to mitigate ecological and socioeconomic impacts of wildlife-vehicle collisions.
